Frequently Asked Questions about taking AVID as a Freshman:

1. Can I take AVID and take a world language?
   YES,  we actually want you start your world language.  Most 9th grade AVID students are going to take AVID and their first year of a language other than English.
    

2. ​What about Health class?
   You can choose to take AVID, your World Language, and Health your freshman year.  If you do, you will have 7 classes which is ok if you are in AVID.
   OR
   You can choose to take Health online over the summer.
    

3. Can I take AVID and be in MUN, a Sport, or APA?​
   Yes, you can take AVID and MUN, you will just have 7 classes.
   Yes, you can take AVID and a Sport since your sport will be in place of your PE.
   Yes, you can take AVID and APA, they do not conflict.
   We want AVID students to be involved in school. We find that students who are involved actually have higher grades and learn the life skill of balance.
    

4. How do I register for AVID?
   #1 -On the 9th Grade Course Selection google form sent you to by the guidance department, select the World Language or Language Other Than English that you want to take in the first option box.  In the next elective question, select AVID -1.
   
   #2- After you have selected AVID for your courses, fill out an AVID Application.
